Good morning gentlemen.
As many of you are aware, Coach Appleby and myself traveled to Naples, Florida this past weekend for the annual ACHA summit. All implications of being in Florida aside, it was a great success. I have been high on hockey since I arrived on Friday. If you would have all seen the amount of time and effort put into this meeting to make it what it was, you would all understand exactly where our coaches are coming from. We are not a "club" regardless of our university-appointed labels. We are an ACHA team, and we represent our school on the national (and potentially international) stage. Attending the same meetings as the presidents and coaches of Saginaw Valley and Florida Gulf Coast made me realize just what we can achieve with the right amount of determination, effort, and pride. With that being said, our season starts in August when we will be holding the camp. It is very important that you attend. Although work and school obligations are very much understandable, I need to know very soon, if not now, who can commit to the August camp. As said before, it will be held August 19-21, and will take up the majority of each day.
Based on the measures taken by successful schools around the ACHA, this camp is a vital step towards a national championship. It is up to you guys to work for it, knowing that it is a very attainable goal for us. The coaches, the executives, and myself have great confidence in our team, and we look forward to seeing each of you in August.
While our season starts in August, your season starts now. Make sure you are each staying physical during the Summer. Don't hurt yourselves, but consider what each of you can do to elevate your game, whether it be lifting weights, sprinting, or shooting 500 pucks a day.
Have a great summer guys.
