A Message From President "Ducci Mane"
Good morning gentlemen.
As many of you are aware, Coach Appleby and myself traveled to Naples, Florida this past weekend for the annual ACHA summit. All implications of being in Florida aside, it was a great success. I have been high on hockey since I arrived on Friday. If you would have all seen the amount of time and effort put into this meeting to make it what it was, you would all understand exactly where our coaches are coming from. We are not a "club" regardless of our university-appointed labels. We are an ACHA team, and we represent our school on the national (and potentially international) stage. Attending the same meetings as the presidents and coaches of Saginaw Valley and Florida Gulf Coast made me realize just what we can achieve with the right amount of determination, effort, and pride. With that being said, our season starts in August when we will be holding the camp. It is very important that you attend. Although work and school obligations are very much understandable, I need to know very soon, if not now, who can commit to the August camp. As said before, it will be held August 19-21, and will take up the majority of each day.
Based on the measures taken by successful schools around the ACHA, this camp is a vital step towards a national championship. It is up to you guys to work for it, knowing that it is a very attainable goal for us. The coaches, the executives, and myself have great confidence in our team, and we look forward to seeing each of you in August.
While our season starts in August, your season starts now. Make sure you are each staying physical during the Summer. Don't hurt yourselves, but consider what each of you can do to elevate your game, whether it be lifting weights, sprinting, or shooting 500 pucks a day.
Have a great summer guys.

Red Wings Pull It Out?
This Video of an octopus attacking a camera gives me this strange feeling that the Red Wings might dig out of their 1-2 series and beat the Coyotes.
For those of you who don't know why an octopus is significant to the Detroit Red Wings, Andi, I have a short sweet story for you from About.com.
The Motor City's proud tradition of saluting the Detroit Red Wings with slimy creatures of the deep dates back over half a century.
The first octopus landed on the ice during the Red Wings' 1952 Stanley Cup run, courtesy of brothers Pete and Jerry Cusimano, who owned a fish market. If you know your cephalopods, you will know that an octopus has eight tentacles. In those days it took eight playoff wins to claim the Cup, hence the supposed symbolism of the gesture.
The Red Wings were perfect in the '52 playoffs, sweeping the semifinal and the final in straight games. The octopus has been a good luck charm ever since.
By 1995, the team had adopted the tradition by introducing a mascot, Al the Octopus. Al is raised to the rafters of Joe Louis Arena before every home playoff game, and used in team merchandising and promotion.

Whose Town Nation Update
Waffletown USA has the week off. Coming off a heated shootout loss to the Blue Ducks. It was a tough battle by both teams. In the shootout their goalie had our number stuffing three good attempts while Krus and I had him beat but couldn't hit the net. Waffletown is now 4-2-1 and awaits its next opponent to be announced. In the mean time the Waffletown softball team ends spring training this week and has the one and only preseason game May 6, 8:45/9:45 against the Weapons of Mass Consumption.
Boyle Scores in OT....oops!
After Ave goalie Craig Anderson shut down the Sharks 51(!) shots Dan Boyle decided to turn around and try scoring on a different goalie, his own. This is one of the worst moments I have ever seen in any professional sporting event. Somebody better gettcha boy a new curve cause that aint cuttin it. It is such a shame due to how it seemed more or less obvious that the Sharks were going to win, which most likely would have come in the second overtime at the 75 shot mark. You know when Anderson finally passed out.
I know I picked the Sharks to choke in this series and it was more of a joke on them, but this is just outrageous.
